The beginning of 2024 was marked by tragic events with an earthquake that hit the Noto Peninsula and an airplane accident but the Omotesenke Domonkai Southern California Branch was able to celebrate the new year\u2019s Tea Ceremony event hosted at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance. We celebrated the New Year\u2019s welcoming Mr. Kenko Sone, the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles and his spouse along with 110participants.
The honseki (main seating), sharing of drinks using a Shimadai tea bowl was made possible this year,
which was avoided during prior events. In the fukuseki (subsidiary seating) set up for the New Year along with a Japanese atmosphere was enjoyed. We are hoping for a prosperous year as we are celebrating the 50th anniversary for Omotesenke Domonkai Southern California Branch.
