2025 Omotesenke Domonkai Southern California Koshukai (workshop) was held

This year’s summer workshop was held at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance for three days from August 20th to 22nd, with the participation of Inoue Junichi Sosho, who was dispatched from the headquarters. In previous years, the Sosho and a Koshi have been in charge of instruction, but this year Master Inoue was in charge of instruction alone.
Wednesday, August 20th: Kyoju-sha, Attendees: 33 people. Practical Skills: Sumidemae, Tsuzuki-usucha
Lecture: Textbook “Furo.”
Thursday, August 21st: Shikaku-sha / Toritsugi Koshi, Attendees: 37 people. Practical Skills: Shozumi, ChaKabuki. Lecture: Explanation of Handouts.
Friday, August 22nd: Ippan, Attendees: 61 people. Practical Skills: Hana Shomo, Nagao, Usucha. Lecture: “The Story of Seisai.”
During the practical session, each step was explained, allowing all attendees to learn as if they were performing the tea ceremony themselves. Furthermore, since Inoue Sosho majored in history at university, he wove the idea of the tea ceremony’s “flow of time” into his lecture, and attendees gained new knowledge of Seisai from the textbooks and handouts. During the Q&A session, a new method was introduced: attendees wrote their questions in advance and the MC asked them all at once, making it a meaningful session.
The MC for this session was Ms. Poncher, Mizuya was arranged by Namiki Shachu, and the Teicha was served by Hori Shachu and Namiki Shachu. The Workshop also provided a valuable learning opportunity for those responsible for the Mizuya.
