Autumn Friendship Tea Gathering 2023 was held

Our annual Autumn Friendship Tea Gathering was held at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance on October 8th.
As the early morning drizzle cleared, the event took place in a clear and pleasant weather, with approximately 135 participants.
The Honseki (main seating) arrangement expressed a sense of autumn within the spirit of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility (wa-kei-sei-jaku), while the Fukuseki (subsidiary seating) showcased the vibrant atmosphere of autumn with various tea utensils.
Guests were served two different types of matcha at Honseki and Fukuseki, and enjoyed the tea ceremony presentations along with each other’s company.
Our guests included the Honorable Kenko Sone, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles and Madame Mami Sone (wife of the consul general), the presidents of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Southern California, Japanese Women’s Society of Southern California, Orange County Japanese American Association, Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Los Angeles, along with the members of Urasenke Tankokai of Los Angeles and Orange associations and Ogasawara-ryu Senchado.
The event was a warm gathering where members of Omotesenke Domonkai and guests enjoyed a harmonious autumn day together.
