The Emperors Birthday Tea Ceremony 2022

On March 25, Consulate General of Japan hosted an event to celebrate the Japanese Emperor’s 60th birthday (which was on February 23) at his resident in Los Angeles.
This year’s event was held with limited number of guests and strong COVID-19 risk mitigation measures in place after skipping it for the last two years due to the pandemic.
Omoteseneke Domonkai Southern California Region took a part with 6 of its members offering tea ceremony at the event.
It was a pretty hot day for March, but we could manage to offer three tea ceremony settings with Ryu-rei (tea ceremony in table and chair style).
We were honored to be a part of the event and received warm words of gratitude from the Consulate General and his staff.
